Microscopic New England
Date:  January 11th, 2014
Time:  12pm thru 4:30pm

Description: Scott, Race and Ava go microscopic in an attempt to find out whether anything can survive an onslaught of the Polar Vortex.  After sifting through a bucket of muck they will spend hours scanning the aquatic sample for life.

Spotted Salamander and Wood Frog Encounter
Date:  March 29 “Saturday”, 2014
Time:  10am to 2pm

Description: Warm spring rains bring the amazing Spotted Salamander Breeding migration to southern Connecticut.  After a long winters nap these fossorial creatures come to life and travel by the thousands across our roads to breed in vernal pools throughout New England.  Depending upon the weather patterns during March Scott will introduce you to the spotted salamander

Searching for Amphibians
Date:  April 27th  “Saturday”, 2014
Time:  12pm to 4pm

Description:  Depending upon the intensity of rain “or lack there of” our amphibians my be just getting started or some have already hatched out.  No matter what has happened with the weather late April is always a great time to survey  local vernal pools and wetlands.

Searching for Snakes!
Date:  May 25 “Saturday”
Time:  12pm to 4pm

Description:  Connecticut is home to a fantastic population of snakes! As for non-venomous species we have the Black Rat Snake, the Northern Black Racer, the Northern Ringneck Snake, the Eastern Garter snake, the Eastern Worm snake, the Smooth Green Snake and the Northern Brown.  Only two species are venomous;  The Northern Copperhead and the Eastern Timber Rattlesnake.  Odds are slim you’ll ever see either one unless you decide to join Scott on this adventure.   Since most of the these reptiles are non-venomous  searching for them is both fun and safe.   On this day trip Scott Tucker you will be face to face with the worlds most gentle and misunderstood animals that often times end up killed out of fear and ignorance.  Learn about their life cycle, diet and habit needs.
